Footbridge hip experts carefully diagnose your condition, and provide information and guidance about the most appropriate treatment.
The hip plays an integral role in the function of walking, sitting, standing and bending. The hip joint is a ball and socket that supports the weight of the body, and allows the leg to move in different directions. The hip joint has a capsule containing lubricating fluid, which enables the joint to move with ease. Cartilage is found in the hip joint, and ligaments contain the ball of the joint from slipping out of the socket. Hip conditions can develop due to acute injury, chronic overuse or infection.
In order to best treat any condition of the hip joint, patients should have weight-bearing xrays of the pelvis and hips prior to referral. There is no requirement for any other imaging.
Depending on the problem, patients will be triaged to the most appropriate practitioner to undertake treatment and management, which could involve any of our Physiotherapists, Primary Care Sport Medicine Physicians, Joint Replacement Orthopaedic Surgeons, or a member of our Arthroscopic Sport Orthopaedic Surgeons.
A referral is required in order to obtain a hip consultation with a Footbridge physician.
